A Real Tree

This year I decided we needed a real tree for Christmas. So we went and the boys actually found the perfect Sharum tree. Jason didn't want a tall one and that was fine, but I wanted a full one. And boy did we get a "F.U.L.L." one. But I love it!! Of course, nothing is easily done at our house - Jason had THE HARDEST time getting the tree to sit snugly in the tree stand. After some cutting, tugging, shouting and cussin, I think we got it. I say that and watch the darn thing be turned over in the morning - haha. Our tree is 7ft tall and 5 years old. You can count the rings in one of our pictures. The kids had a blast going from tree to tree measuring each and every one.

Chocolate Pie Cookoff

Jason and I decided to have a chocolate pie cook off because he says my stuff is always so expensive to make. I stick straight with the recipe never straying and he just does "whatever"..He thought he could make a pie cheaper than I could and make it taste the same. I begged to differ. Here's the recipes:
Jason's
graham cracker crust (store bought)
chocolate pudding (made from the recipe on the box for pie filling)
xtra creamy cool whip
shavings of hershey bar on top

mine
regular pie crust (lol not even sure what it's called)
6 melted squares of chocolate
butter
sugar
vanilla
egg beaters
lite cool whip

Jason used name brand cool whip and I used off brand. I can't tell the difference but others could. Jason's cost a little of $4 and mine cost $9.31 to make.
Honestly both pies were good. Most said if we put my filling in Jason's pie crust it'd be awesome. So we're doing that for Christmas.
We had a kitchen full of wonderful food and of course I ate way too much.

Don't touch the weed eater while it's runnin?!

I have no idea what possessed my son to get the urge to touch the weed eater while it was runnin, but something DID. Jason had the weed eater on the driveway working on it and Austin just stuck his hand in the string. I can handle like a drip of blood, but A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G more than that isn't good for me..I can and have passed out on the sight of blood in the past, so when Jason brought Austin in and told me what happened I was mortified..I saw the blood in Jason's hand and right then I started gettin clammy, and my ears started ringing..lol..no joke...It took all I could to undo band aids for Jason as I had my head on the counter..Jason kept assuring me that it wasn't THAT bad, but I didn't believe him..In my mind he should have lost his finger. He was extremely lucky and I thank God it wasn't as bad as it could have been..After several days of tryin to look at it and almost passin out EVERY time, I finally reached the point where I could look at it and be okay..These pictures were taken tonight and it looks a lot better yesterday (which was my 1st time to really look at it)..

You have an awesome & beautiful family. Happy Thanksgiving!!

The Griswold's Go Campin

We decided kinda last minute to have a two day getaway and headed to the White River. The kids decided to get up at 5:30 Thursday morning, so we headed out fishin before 8am. lol
I love this picture b/c it obviously captures the pure excitement of catching a fish she had no idea was on her line.

Here's another fish she caught when her and Jason went back fishing.

Here's my sweet boy Eli waiting for a fish that never came. He finally gave up and started playin with the rocks.

Here's Austin givin it his best shot, but here again gave up and started playin with the rocks.

Now all the pictures are out of the way let's get into why I called this post "The Griswold's Go Campin". For all the people that KNOW us you know SOMETHING always happens to us - doesn't matter what it is. Let me start the story by saying when you rent a camper at the White River your required to bring your bed linens and towels which we did. My car was so packed that we probably should have taken 2 cars. I know your thinking I'm crazy, but let's not forget I have a 5 member family. So Thursday morning the toilet decides to overflow and flood the camper. We cleaned up the water with what you ask? OUR TOWELS!! So no showers for us..The more intelligent person would have went to the Dollar Store and just bought some new ones so they could shower, but not us. WE TOUGHED IT OUT!! lol!!! Friday morning we headed home bright early at 8am and not 5 minutes into the trip Eli starts vomiting from car sickness and he doesn't stop until we reach Fayetteville. At some point Austin joins in on all the fun..I couldn't even tell you how many times we stopped. The journey is normally 3 1/2 hours, but today it took us 5 1/2 hours. I didn't think we'd ever get home and I know Eli felt the same. Poor guys!! So it's safe to say, we're done with any kind of road trip for awhile.
